Where were you born, and where do you currently live? I was born in South Dakota and lived there for 28 years! My husband and I moved here to upstate New York about 8 years ago.
Tell us about your family: My husband and I have been married 10 years. We have two daughters, Taylor is 9 and Kati is 3 ½.
Hobbies & Interests: My interests include every kind of paper crafting, including scrapbook pages, cards and altered items or home decor. When I’m not scrapbooking, I enjoy quilting, painting, decorating my house, and spending time with my family!
Pet Peeves: the never-ending pile of laundry, slow drivers, running out of Diet Dr. Pepper
Favorite Magazine: Paper Crafts Magazine
Favorite Smells: chocolate chip cookies baking, rain, and fresh cut grass
Favorite Movies or Books: I have never been much of a reader, but as far as movies go, I love a good comedy or romance! I used to be a big fan of scary movies, but since having children, those kind of movies spook me too much these days!
Favorite TV shows: Reality shows such as American Idol and the Apprentice are so addicting! I also enjoy comedies such as The Office and Scrubs. And of course, I love anything on HGTV, my favorite channel of all!
Favorite Season: This is an easy question for me: definitely summer! What’s not to love? The winters are so long here that I look forward to the warm weather.
What time do you wake up in the morning? I wake up at 7:30 a.m. to get Taylor off to school and start my day.
Do you collect anything? No specific collections, although I am a pac rat and save everything! You never know when you might need it someday!
SCRAPBOOKING:
When and how did you get into scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking about 9 years ago when my friend and I got together to make cards. Then when Taylor was born, I began scrapbooking to create a baby album for her and have been hooked ever since.
What is your favorite Melissa Frances Product? I can’t get enough of the resin pieces and the rub ons! As a card maker, I love that there is a rub on for every occasion. I love it all though!
What music (if any) do you listen to while you scrap? It is usually quiet when I create, mostly late at night when everyone is sleeping. I can concentrate better when it’s quiet and am definitely a night owl!
What do you like to snack on while you scrap? I love candy…especially anything chocolatey or spicy like Hot Tamales.
How would you describe your scrapbooking style? I would describe my style as soft, romantic and shabby chic. Very girly. Maybe because I have 2 daughters?
What is more important to you…getting the photos into albums, or indulging in creativity? Crafting is definitely that creative outlet for me that I need!
Where do you find inspiration? Inspiration will pop up anywhere for me….a trip to Target (love that store!), a scrappy magazine, viewing on-line galleries, fashion trends….etc.
Do you like to crop with others or scrap alone? I’d love to have friends come over to create with me, but honestly I don’t know many other people that scrap here!
How has scrapbooking changed your life? Scrapbooking has really brought me a long way in the last 2 years. I’ve met so many people on-line who share the same love for it as I do and have encouraged me to become the creative person that I love to be today! I feel so lucky to have had my work published as well.
What is one scrapbooking tool, you can't live without? My Cutterbee scissors, my trimmer and lots of glue dots! (oops, that’s 3)
What format do you scrap? (12x12, 8.5x11 etc)? 12x12
Which do you prefer? Scrapbook layouts, cards, altered projects? My current love is card making, but I’ve been doing a lot of altered projects recently also. I don’t do many layouts, but when I do, I really enjoy them!
Do you have any organization or time saving tips you could share? Hmm…not really. I scrap in my dining room, so I have everything stored in the drawers of the buffet and some things in a rolling cart that I put away when people come over! My paper is in 12x12 craft keepers by manufacturer and stored in a large decorative box that sits on the floor. My wish is to have a scrap room some day and have a place for everything!
