Every month, Melissa Frances sends out a beautiful and inspirational newsletter featuring beautiful designs from our design team, but each month, we also feature a guest artist. This month, we welcomed the talented Ashley Calder. If you don't already receive our newsletter, please go here and sign up...you won't be sorry! We have more interview questions and a lovely card from Ashley to share with you today.
Q: You recently released a book with Memory Makers called Scraptastic, may you please share with us how it developed?
My editor, Christine Doyle, saw my work in Scrapbook Answers magazine when I was a design team member and contributing writer, and contacted me about the possibility of doing a book. It was such a surprise! I think I had to read her email at least three times to make sure it said what I thought it said (and it did).
Fabulous shabby chic papers. Gesso. Watercolours. Silver leaf, and occasionally gold leaf. Ink and a straight pen (for journalling). I also love incorporating fun vintage items, found items, and every day items I can find around the house. Using these scraps of life makes me feel as though I am truly /scrap/booking.
I love staying up late at night with a pot of coffee at hand, or the kettle on. A quiet house, a whole long night before me; the creative possibilities always feel endless!
