This month, we're please to share more about our design team member, Vicky Harvey...
Vicki Harvey
Tell us about your family: I’ve been married to Bill for almost 16 years and we have three children – Erin-13, Brennan-11 and Kendall-8
Hobbies & Interests: In addition to Scrapbooking I enjoy reading, sewing, walking around the many lakes that Minneapolis has to offer and home décor. I am addicted to HGTV and TLC!
Pet Peeves: People that drive in the left lane of the highway and don’t move over when you are coming up behind them.
Favorite Magazine: I subscribe to ALL of the major Scrapbooking magazines!
Favorite Smells: Gardenias and Lilies.
Favorite Movies or Books: I love watching romantic comedies. Jane Austen books are among my favorites and I’ve read all of the Harry Potter series out loud! My entire family sits around me and I read. We are almost done with number 7, so please don’t tell me how it ends! J
Favorite TV show: American Idol and John & Kate Plus Eight
Favorite Season: Definitely Autumn! I just love the cool, sweater weather and the gorgeous leaves.
What time do you wake up in the morning? Usually about 7am
Do you collect anything? Not officially. I love going to antique shops and finding treasures. I love pitchers, frames and iron scrolls.
SCRAPBOOKING:
When and how did you get into scrapbooking? I started Scrapbooking shortly before my youngest daughter was born. I really got into it after she was about six months old. I had been curious about it for a long time and thought it would be a good way to get all of my photos into albums! HA! Little did I know that it would make me take MORE photos and get fewer of them into albums! I now just enjoy the process and scrapbook the photos that inspire me.
What is your favorite Melissa Frances Product? Patterned paper hands down! The patterns are so pretty and romantic. They are very ME!
What music (if any) do you listen to while you scrap? I usually watch (or listen to) TV.
What do you like to snack on while you scrap? I don’t eat while I scrap. I am too messy and would get food stains on my layouts.
How would you describe your scrapbooking style? Feminine, romantic, layered.
What is more important to you…getting the photos into albums, or indulging in creativity? See above J. It really has become indulging in my creativity.
Where do you find inspiration? Magazines, catalogs, billboards, ads, children’s clothing, almost anywhere! I love finding interesting color combinations.
Do you like to crop with others or scrap alone? I enjoy cropping with others, but I definitely get more done when I am alone.
How has scrapbooking changed your life? I look at everything with a different eye. The little details of big events as well as the everyday pop out at me more now. I’ve also been blessed to meet many great friends through this hobby.
What is one scrapbooking tool, can’t you live without? Glue dots. I love them! I use them on every layout!
What format do you scrap? (12x12, 8.5x11 etc)? I usually scrap 12x12, but I have been dabbling in 8.5x11 and I really like it!
Which do you prefer? Scrapbook layouts, cards, altered projects? Definitely layouts. To me it’s like getting to decorate an entire room on a 12x12 canvas.
Do you have any organization or time saving tips you could share? If I get stuck or get a mental block when I am working on a layout I will just walk away instead of sitting there wasting time. More times than not, when I sit back down something comes to me and I am able to finish the layout easily.
And here is a layout from Vicky. Don't forget to visit her blog.

Summer is filled with warm breezes, picnics, popsicles, and vacations. I love this time of year and thought it would be fun to create a little gift set for a picnic party. The card accents the theme of the gift set and was so quick and easy to complete. A pocket was created on the front to slip a cardstock sticker tag inside and then was embellished with ribbon, buttons, and a dimensional sticker. I thought the gift box would be fun to hold a handmade bracelet for the picnic girls and would be something to take home and keep as a reminder of a warm, summer picnic with friends. I love the colors of the Fun in the Sun cardstock sticker sheet because they are so fresh and calm…so this project was created around those juicy color combinations.
