Here is a little message that Melissa wanted to pass along to the Melissa Frances Design Team...
"I hadn't seen Friday's post until I came in and saw it with Kelly, she gave a little smile knowing what I was about to see. We looked at it together and it brought tears to my eyes. How can I ever say thank you! It was just about the sweetest thing ever. Thanks girls, I loved it!!"
-Melissa
Melissa has been gracious enough to share photos of her last treatment on Friday...
"Getting Ready to put the needle in (keeping everything sterile)
"Putting the needle into the port (port-a-cath: An implanted device through which blood may be withdrawn and drugs may be infused without repeated needle sticks)"
"Looking at the access line"
"Sterilizing the port and access line"
"At first they give you saline solution to keep the line running, while the hospital pharmacy prepares the medicine"
Drugs from the pharmacy. Last time EVER! (So excited I can't stand myself!!!)
"This last picture is of the port line and the medicine that is put in to keep it clean. Hmm... one more minor surgery to get the port out!"

First off, we would like to apologize for our delay in posting the winner. Due to some techinical difficulties with Typepad and a little miscommunication, we didn't get the winner and Melissa's photo from her last treatment posted as soon as we would have liked. We truly appreciate all of the wonderful support and comments provided by all of our many wonderful readers! Please watch our blog, as we will shortly be posting photos of Melissa's last treatment, and sharing another wonderful message from Melissa herself. Thanks for your patience, and because we know you're all anxiously awaiting...

The stories on the site made me laugh so much. My eye is so swollen and it hurts to laugh. lol I have a cute one for everyone. Why didn't the skeleton jump off the cliff? He didn't have enough guts. lol I saw the surgeon today and he is happy how my nose looks, he says I should have the results of the biopsy in a week or so.. The black eye is routine but is quite uncomfortable. The bandage on my head is for another small lump on my forehead they wanted to check out. I am so excited that in two days I will be getting my last chemo! whoo hoo. I told all the nurse that it was picture day on friday. I hope to take lots of pictures so everyone can see where I had my chemo and spent the last year and a half. I am truely blessed to be here to share my story. Thank you everyone for putting a smile on my face today!
-Melissa

Okay, so here's the joke:
Playing Doctor
Two children were in a doctor's waiting room. The little girl was softly sobbing.
"Why are you crying?" asked the little boy.
"I'm here for a blood test, and they're going to cut my finger," said the girl.
When he heard this, the little boy started to cry.
"Why are you crying?" asked the girl.
The boy looked at her worriedly and said, "I'm here for a urine test."

A Melissa Update: Melissa completed her surgery removing the lumps in her nose and eyelid. She will find out the results of the biopsy in about 10 days. She has a little pain, but is otherwise doing very well! Melissa finds great comfort in the words of encouragement and inspiration that her blog readers have shared over the last couple of months. She has noted that she personally reads through every comment, and that on bad days, your words give her comfort. Throughout the week, we will be celebrating the end of her treatment by sharing many of your comments with Melissa. Each day, there will be an amazing giveaway, so be sure to visit and comment each day so that you will be entered in each drawing. We will be giving away a different collection of Melissa Frances products each day, and on Friday, we will be giving away a huge set containing all of the products from each day. So...be sure to share Melissa's link and story with your friends and blog readers...we are hoping to make this an extra special week for an extra special woman. I think the photo above can speak a thousand words...can you believe she is smiling right after surgery??? I think it perfectly illustrates Melissa's positive attitude throughout this entire battle with breast cancer. Melissa...you are amazing.
Today, we ask that you leave a comment sharing what you are thankful for. Melissa has noted that it sometimes takes something like a sickness to make you aware of the gifts and blessing that you have in life. Leave Melissa a comment and tell her what you are thankful for...one lucky commentor could receive a complete collection of the Melissa Frances Rub-ons!!!

The journey of a breast cancer patient is frequently fraught with speed bumps, set-backs, scares, victories and successes. Today Melissa is encountering one of those speed bumps. A few weeks ago Melissa discovered a lump in her nose and eyelid. She was worried and immediately contacted her doctors to get it looked into. Her doctors are 99.9% sure that the lumps will be benign, however given her stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis; they are being proactive in investigating it. Today Melissa will undergo a biopsy surgery just to make sure that everything is OK. From tackling a speed bump to celebrating a victory; while today will see Melissa undergoing these tests, Friday will see her celebrating the end of her active treatment for her original stage 3 diagnosis. After 18months of going to the hospital every 3 weeks for her herceptin infusion, Melissa will receive her last dose! Melissa calls her herceptin infusions 'good chemo' unlike 'bad chemo', which affects all the cells in the body; 'good chemo' specifically targets the cancer cells and has fewer side effects. As you can imagine with the end of her active treatment in sight, Melissa is feeling excitement, joy and a sense of accomplishment.
Today we would encourage you to leave Melissa a note of encouragement as she undergoes her biopsy surgery today. And be sure to stop by tomorrow as it will mark the beginning of a weeklong countdown celebration full of inspiration, encouragement and fun giveaways!
